ACCEDE - ESCCON Workshop

25 to 27 March 2025

Next year, the two main European events devoted to the use of EEE components in space applications, ACCEDE and ESCCON will merge in Seville, combining the trends in using and validating COTS for space with the evolution and activities being developed and implemented under the ESCC system.

ACCEDE (Assessment of Commercial Components Enabling Disruptive Space Electronics)

Since the successful ACCEDE events in 2019 and 2022 , significant evolution happened in the industry and a lot of studies and expertise have been gathered.

Universities, companies and institutions are working hard to gather knowledge and find methodologies to safely use COTS in different scenarios, not only for addressing the needs of the so called “New Space” programs such as constellations and/or nano & small satellites, but also for reaching the technical challenges in the more demanding space missions and applications.

Among others, we will cover topics such as:

  • Studies on the reliability of EEE COTS for use in space
  • Policy aspects/quality provisions in using COTS
  • COTS Selection process
  • COTS use cases: successes, problems and failures
  • Radiation hardness assurance when using COTS
  • Commercialisation aspects, …, etc.

ESCCON  (The European Space Components Conference)

After the last ESCCON event in Toulouse, a lot has occurred in the EEE component domain in Europe and ESA. Geopolitical decisions were implemented that affected the countries’ involvement: EU Chips Act, EEE Component Sovereignty.

Significant efforts and research were made in new technological areas: photonics, advanced manufacturing & packaging, wide bandgap technologies, including power devices, but also remarkable works have been implemented in topics like standardization, updates of quality assurance policies, etc.

  • Relevant ESCC updates will be provided and feedback from other space agencies like NASA, JAXA, DLR, CNES, etc., covered.
  • Mission classifications, discussions on cost aspects, comparisons between classes, COTS/non-COTS, will be commonly  addressed topics with ACCEDE.

Invited talks will be initiated, and a call for ideas will be open from 16th Sep/24, to 29th Nov/24.  The workshop is designed for oral presentations, and talks gathered in sessions following mainly a single track. The presentation duration will be in the range of 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for questions.

For those interested in giving a presentation / talk in any of the event areas (ACCEDE & ESCCON), we encourage you to contact the technical committee contact points identified below.

"Panel discussions" are envisaged, addressing hot topics with a key moderator and selected panellist speakers.

Industrial exhibition and sponsor opportunities will be available for those interested. Details will be announced and published in a dedicated event website which will be available after the summer.
